1- Countries and nationalities

 

 

United Kingdom

Nigel is from England.
He is British.
He speaks English.
He is a university student.
He is 20 years old.
His favorite food is fish and chips.
He likes to walk in the streets of London

 

 

France

Sophie is French.
She speaks French. 
She is a fashion designer.
She is 22 years old.
Her favorite food is Le foie gras, and she also likes crépes and croissant.
Before work, she likes to buy flowers and some baguettes for breakfast, that makes her morning happy.

 

 

Germany

Luther and Kerstin are Germans.
They speak German.
Luther is 25 years old and Kerstin is 27 years old.
They are siblings.
Their favorite foods are sausages with potato salad, pretzels and beer.
They love soccer, and they always watch their favorite team's games together.

 

 

United States

She is Kelly.
She is American, from New York.
She speaks English.
Kelly is 21 years old.
Her favorite food is hot dog and barbecues. 
She likes to run in the park.

 

 

China

Tai Sung is Chinese, but he lives in Los Angeles, U.S.
He speaks Mandarin and English.
He is 17 years old.
He is a high school student. 
His favorite food is chow mein with green tea.
He loves playing online games and posting on social networks

 

 

Brazil

Paula is Brazilian.
She is 21 years old.
She works as a tour guide.
She always recommends tourists their traditional food and drink: feijoada and caipirinha.
Her mother tongue is Portuguese. But she also speaks English and Spanish.     
Because of her work, she is in contact with many tourists from different countries around the world every day. 

 

 

Mexico

Lupita is Mexican
She is 18 years old.
She speaks Spanish.
She is a nursing student.
Her favorite food is quesadillas and tamales.
She enjoys helping people, so she wants to work in Public health.

 


Use capital letters in English

In English, you should always capitalize the name of countries, languages and nationalities because they are proper nouns.  
I am American. She speaks English. They are from the United States.

¿Cómo?

How long does it take to get to Paris by train?

 

Al preguntar con “Why” se debe responder con “because”.

Ejemplo:

Why did you want to visit Vatican City? (¿Por qué quisiste visitar la ciudad del Vaticano?).

Because I wanted to visit the Sistine Chapel. (Porque quería visitar la capilla Sixtina).

La diferencia entre What y Which (¿Cuál?). “What” se usa para preguntar por un número desconocido de posibilidades o respuestas. “Which” se usa para hacer una elección entre opciones o alternativas específicas y limitadas.

Ejemplo:

Which of these countries is your vacation option? (¿Cuál de estos países es tu opción de vacaciones?)

What is your favorite food? (¿Cuál es tu comida favorita?).

Nathaniel: I’m 20 years old. What do you do?

Francesca: I’m 18. I’m studying for being a nutritionist.

Nathaniel: That’s nice. I’m studying architecture. When are you going to visit UK?

Francesca: Next week. Where do we meet?

Nathaniel: We can meet at the Prince Gardens on Friday. Gardens.

Francesca: Great! See you soon Nathaniel.  

Nathaniel: Bye Francesca. See you next week.
