2.1- Numbers from 1 to 20

1 = One I have one cat.	2 = Two     I have two cats.	3 = Three I have three cats.	4 = Four I have four cats.
5 = Five I have five rabbits.	6 = Six I have six rabbits.	7 = Seven I have seven rabbits.	8 = Eight I have eight rabbits.
9 = Nine I have nine hamsters.	10 = Ten I have ten hamsters.	11 = Eleven I have eleven hamsters.	12 = Twelve I have twelve hamsters.
13 = Thirteen I have thirteen parrots.	14 = Fourteen I have fourteen parrots.	15 = Fifteen I have fifteen parrots.	16 = Sixteen I have sixteen parrots.
17 = Seventeen I have seventeen dogs.	18 = Eighteen I have eighteen dogs.	19 = Nineteen I have nineteen dogs.	20 = Twenty I have twenty dogs.

 

When do we use numbers?

$\to$ We use numbers to count pets.

Example: My name is Emma. I love animals! I have six pets. I have one hamster, one parrot, one cat, one iguana, and two dogs.
 

 

$\to$ We use numbers to talk about your age, when we answer the question: How old are you?                                                                                                                                                                            

Question $\to$ How old are you?

Answer: I + am / ‘m + number (six, seven, etc.) + years old.

2.2- Animal Names: Pets

Pets are animals that live in a house. Pets can be dogs, cats, parrots, etc. Look at the examples below :

My name is Emma. I love animals! I have six pets. I have one hamster, one parrot, one cat, one iguana, and two dogs.

3- Language Point

In this section, you will learn how to communicate in English.

3.1- Asking for Quantity: How many…?

We use the question (?) “how many + animals or pets (cats, dogs, etc.) + do you have?”  to ask for the number of animals a person has. Look at the examples:

Question 1 (?) $\to$ How many pets do you have?

 

3.2- Expressing Possession: I have…

We use the positive sentence () “I have + number (one, two, three, etc.) + animals or pets (cats, dogs, etc.) when somebody asks you the question: “How many ____ do you have?”. Look at the examples:

Answer 1 () $\to$ I have seven pets.
